Profitability of microturbines

Microturbines are ideal for the cogeneration process because of their reliability, low maintenance requirements and high overall efficiency. The plants are cheaper to operate because there is no loss in performance over time. Because of their resistance towards sulphur compounds, the microturbines are particularly suitable for biogas applications. With an overall efficiency of up to 95 %, the generators can supply buildings with all the electricity and heat that they need. Microturbines are particularly suitable for special applications where heating is required at high temperatures. Numerous cogeneration options such as heating, steam generation and absorption refrigerating machines ensure maximum utilisation of energy. Their compact design and light weight mean they can be used in commercial or public buildings.

Following this year's amendment to the EEG, with its increase in basic remuneration and additional bonuses, the future for cogeneration plants looks brighter than ever. With appropriate design concepts, Greenvironment GmbH cogeneration plants are eligible for the bonuses for technology, emission prevention, cogeneration, renewable resources and slurry. This means that operators of biogas plants with microturbines can receive the maximum reimbursement of 28 cents per kilowatt hour of generated electricity.
